And away she goes!

I guess my baby is now a toddler.  Yesterday I was asking Mike when he thought we say Lilly is “officially” walking.  I guess I just assumed she would stand up and start walking one day.  So I posted on facebook that Lilly was taking up to 10 steps at a time, then she would realize that crawling was more effective and drop to her behind and crawl away.  Seriously not 20 minutes after I posted that she started to walk (or should I say “toddle”) everywhere.  She would stumble every once in a while then stand back up and walk some more.  I am pretty sure I can now say Lilly is officially walking!!!  Take a look…

Your baby can read…well kind of

Lilly has always loved books, first they were her favorite chew toy, then she army crawled to her favorite book, and now she reads her books to Momma and Daddy!

In Idea Emergency!

This past Sunday, our family went with our future in-laws to see the Imagination Movers at the UNO Lakefront Area, and wow did we have a blast!  The movers are Lilly’s favorite, it is just about the only t.v. show she will sit still through.  So when Momma saw they were having a free concert to film a t.v. show for then end of the year, she knew she had to get tickets!  Lilly a great 1st concert experience, she laughed, giggled, smiled and even screeched a couple of times! We even got to se Rich up close when he ran up the stairs towards us.

What do two super cute kids heading to the Imagination Movers concert look like?  Take a look!  If you know me, you know I had to make Lilly and her future hubby matching outfits for the occasion. I think we may have some future Imagination Movers on our hands.

Nothing New

We don’t have much of anything going on lately, I think the heat is

stealing any shred of energy we have.  Lilly is “talking” up a storm, it sounds like a cross between Japanese and German, very funny!  She is also mimicking almost all of our actions, today she threw her arms up in the air and said “whaa” (what).  She has also started to stand up without leaning on anything.  Walking here we come! I’m not sure if I am ready for this adventure just yet.

I am still tinkering along with Lilly Pie Creations, I have added a few more appliqués and some more pillow case dresses.  My lilies also bloomed over the past couple of weeks which was a perfect photo op for my new label. Lilly Pie Creations

Adventures in appliqué

I got a wonderful birthday present this year from Mike, a brand new sewing machine.  I was using my mom’s old machine from the 70’s, it worked just fine but it weighed about 40 pounds and that is not an exaggeration.  I think Mike eventually got tired of me complaining about carrying that heavy monster from room to room (I sew at the kitchen table and store all of my stuff in the extra bedroom).  Anyways I decided to expand Lilly Pie Creations to include pillow case dresses and appliquéd shirts (I’m hoping to find some cute bloomers to add to my repertoire.)  Please forgive any crooked stitches as I am still learning ::SMILES::

Here are a few pillow case dresses that I made for Lilly.  I am very thankful to have friends with little girls as they make perfect gifts and great practice!

Here are a few of my appliqué projects please pardon the “shaky” stitching on the letters.  It is tough work figuring out how to feed the appliqué in the machine just right without creating a big hole!

Ok yes this was supposed to be Lilly’s monogram but I did the letters out of order D’OH

This “S” was pretty challenging, but it was a lot of fun trying to figure out how to turn and make curves.

I love the tie…lots of straight lines!

A little photography and photo editing

I recently started using photo editing software to make and edit things.  I use G.I.M.P, it is free software and very similar to Photoshop.  Here are a few things that I have messed with..

This is the design my MIL and I came up with for our shirts for the Race for the Cure.

Lilly’s Santa picture needed to be in a snow globe.

I don’t own a fancy DSLR camera with a wide aperture lens, so I have to fudge the out of focus back ground by editing it.

Reflection

I decided to make just about everything for Lilly’s birthday party to cut down on costs, but I didn’t want to hand write the invitations fearing that my handwriting would lead people to the wrong house on the wrong day.  So I made Lilly’s invitation and thank you notes too.   It was actually a lot of fun!

Here is one of the thank you notes I made, they were a lot of fun to make.  If Lilly could play with it our wear it, I took a picture of her with the present and then created personalized thank you notes.  Ok so that sounds much harder than it really was.

Here are a few pictures from my point and shoot of my flowers in my flower beds.  I played around with the close up or “macro” setting.

Strawberry Patch

Today Lilly and I made a trip out to Ms. Heather's Strawberry Patch with some friends and we had a wonderful time! It was well worth the trip to Albany, LA for a $8 half of a flat of handpicked (by momma) yummy fresh and local strawberries. Even though I did all of the picking, Lilly played with some of the berries long enough for me to snap some pictures.

They had everything from face painting, a petting zoo and even a playground!  Lilly is still a little too small for the playground and petting zoo, but she did get a big red strawberry painted on her hand.

We had already enjoyed lots of strawberries.
