Mommy’s turn to play soccer

Last weekend Lilly wanted me to play soccer with her in her Soccer Tots class.  This was surprising, normally I’ll start playing with her then she will beg for Daddy to play instead.  I don’t think Lilly knows that mommy is the one that likes sports in our house.  This gave Daddy a chance to take some pictures of of me and the bug!

Racing across the field, Lilly thought it was hilarious that she was holding on to my leg as we tried to run

One of our favorite games..tickling the parents with a noodle

Got’cha

Going after the camera man..haha!

IMG_7386

Now it’s Mommy’s turn

IMG_7396

This is by far her favorite game, coach throws a hoop down the field and lets each kid chase it and bring it back.  This week Lilly was at the end of the line.  She waited patiently and when it was her turn she screamed the whole way down the field until she got the hoop then the whole way back, all of the parents were laughing hysterically!

IMG_7398

Walking backwards, she still can’t do it by herself.

IMG_7400

Coach called out a color and the kids had to run to it and stand inside that hoop.

IMG_7367

Lilly had to kick a ball around a bunch of cones and into the goal…she did a great job, she didn’t knock over any cones!

IMG_7369

I’m not sure if you can see it but she’s standing in the goal with her ball after she kicked it around all of the cones.  She did it like a professional, I was amazed!

Raelynn’s First Solid Food

A week shy of 5 months and still no solids?  Yep you are right, we decided to wait as long as possible to give Raelynn solids. Breastfed babies really don’t need solids until 6 months as long as they are on track with their weight gain.  This is a totally different approach than we took with Lilly, on her 4 month birthday we gave her rice cereal.   Last week I got a wild hair and thought Raelynn may be ready for solids, she watches and looks longingly at us when we eat anything near her.  Either she is not ready or she really doesn’t like baby oatmeal, totally opposite from Lilly she loved oatmeal and could eat it by the truck load if you let her.

Here are a few pictures and a video that I took of the oh so MESSY adventure.

A before picture..nice and clean

Just a little messy

More mess

I don’t think any oatmeal made it to her tummy, most of it is caked in her neck

Lilly’s First Day of School

Today was Lilly’s first day of school, school started 2 weeks ago but we were late enrolling her.  I’ll blame that on having a baby and loosing track of time this summer. Between dealing with a newborn and potty training, registering Lilly for school was kind of on the back burner.

Ok back to today…Monday I asked Lilly if she wanted to go to school without Mommy and Daddy and she nodded her head.  I kept telling her over and over again that she would be there all day without Mommy and Daddy and every time she said “o.k momma,” like I get the point mom bring me to school! So after touring the school, making a nap mat, packing a lunch and backpack we were ready to drop our doodle bug off for her first day of school!  Mike took the day off so he could be there at drop off and pick up, I think really she was very happy to have both parents (and little sister) drop her off at school and then be there to pick her up at the end of the day.

This morning Lilly woke up and asked me if today was a “gool” day.  She was pretty excited about going, excited about carrying her backpack, excited about her new nap mat and excited about school all around!  Here are a few pictures I took before we left the house.

IMG_7261

Look how excited she is!

IMG_7271

Woah..looks like those soccer skills are helping her coordination a little :)

We had a successful drop off, no tears were shed (neither momma nor Lilly), she went straight for the yellow frog that she played with the other day when we toured her class room.  We actually stayed a little while to talk to her teacher and Lilly disappeared to go play, she did so much better than I expected.  I really thought she would cry her little eyes out (like she used to when I dropped her off at the same place for my mom’s group), but she didn’t and was happy as a clam.

Mike and I came home and played with Raelynn like she was and only child..Raelynn also had a wonderful day!  At 3:00 sharp (ok maybe a little earlier) we went to pick Lilly up from school.  She was happy to see us but more concerned about her popsicle (cake pop) that another mom brought as a treat for the end of the day.  Lilly’s teachers said she was great, the only hiccup was that she didn’t want to go potty so she wet through her pull up at nap time.  Oh and she decided not to sleep at nap time.  So we picked up our grumpy girl in a fresh new outfit and came home.  After an hour or so of grumpy mess this happened…

IMG_7277

She zoned out like this on the couch for over an hour!

Lilly went to bed about 15 minutes early tonight…that is a sign of a very successful day in my opinion!

Rolly polly baby

Raelynn started rolling over to her side to sleep a couple of weeks ago, I finally got a picture of her in action!  She still hates tummy time, so I was pretty surprised to find her sleeping mostly on her tummy for this nap!

I Spy Bottle

I found this on pinterest and thought it would be a good ideal to make one for Lilly to keep her busy when I need a moment for myself.  It’s super simple to make, I took an empty clear plastic bottle, rice, hot glue and 9 little trinkets that fit in the bottle.

IMG_7144 IMG_7141 IMG_7143

I glued the top on and added some fabric to the top so it looks pretty.  All she has to do is shake it up and she finds new things every time.  I have been meaning to print out what’s inside so she knows what to look for.  Lilly had fun playing with it for about 5 minutes and then was done with it.  I may make another one with alphabet beads. So she can find each of the letters, maybe that will keep her attention longer.  All in all I thought it was a neat idea and I already had everything in the house, and it was super easy to make.

Wonderful weather = a trip to the zoo

We had some wonderful weather the week after Tropical Storm Lee, so Mike and I decided to bring the girls to the zoo…we had a blast, take a look!

Lilly and Daddy looking at the flamingos!  Daddy didn’t believe me when I said they are black when they are born then turn pink.

Raelynn had fun!

Daddy was trying to convince Lilly to stand by the fountain so I could take a picture of her by herself

IMG_7095

She didn’t want to, so this is the picture I got instead

Lilly vs the elephant :)

IMG_7100

This is a very common position.  When Mike picks up Lilly she immediately throws that arm around his neck.

IMG_7115

Finally a picture of Lilly alone, I couldn’t get her to stand still

Raelynn, still having fun

IMG_7131

Raelynn snoozing..she was so tired from riding in the stroller

The giraffes are really cool

IMG_7138

Later in the day Daddy took a nap on the couch, then Lilly decided he needed some company so she grabbed a pillow and blanket and crawled up next to him<—True Story.  I had no part in it.

Raelynn vs. The Chick

Raelynn loves her playmat! And she is now finally starting to interact with it, she kicks and pulls on the toys…this particular day she had it out for the poor little chick (it vibrates when you pull on it) hanging above her head.

 IMG_6760

This is what I call the “get in my mouth” phase :)

 IMG_6762

Mmmm…chicken legs

IMG_6764

Come back here!

IMG_6767

When she’s had enough of the chick, she always goes back to her favorite toy, her thumb!

IMG_6781

I caught this cheesy grin at the perfect moment!

A beautiful day outside = lots of pictures

The title says it all, Lilly and I enjoyed playing outside today while Raelynn napped.  First Lilly gave her tricycle a little attention. She’s getting better at it, still has no clue that she needs to look where she’s going, but she is starting to get the hang of pushing the pedals.  On a side note, I grew up in the country where there were no side walks so I really never rode bikes, I had a go kart and a 4-wheeler so this bike stuff is kind of new to me too :)

IMG_6975 IMG_6946 IMG_6964

After we finished playing with the bike, we moved onto Lilly’s favorite past time FLOWERS! Thank goodness we have a lot of flowers for Lilly to pick.

This is a video from yesterday of Lilly riding her bike (she was saying “I’m trying, I’m trying”)

This is Lilly today (today she said, “come on, come on” over and over)
