This is what a 3 month old looks like!

Ok so Miss Lilly Pie is 3 months old!!  She now weights 12 lbs 14 oz, almost a whole 13 pounds!  I wanted to share a couple of pictures and a video with everyone of what a 3 month old in our household looks like!  Last week Lilly started to babble, it is the cutest thing in the world…she “talks” to the mobile above her swing and tonight she even yelled at it!  She has also found her “lovey” a cloth diaper…well any cloth diaper really.  Its so funny that she has a cloth diaper as a security blanket because I did too, I slept with it until I was a teenager! It looks like we are going to have another “diaper to hold” baby!  Oh and we also have an official thumb sucker, no need for a pacifier, she’s got thumbs and she know where they are at all times.

Lilly has started sitting in the glider and watching momma make the bed.

Today we went to the aquarium with the mommy group and Lilly says, “poo poo on the fish I’ve got a diaper-to-hold”

“OK mom, I’ll look at the fish as long as I can have the diaper-to-hold too”

“And this tastes good too!”

“Look how much of my dress fits in my mouth!”

      Lilly won’t giggle or babble for the camera so here’s Lilly giggling at Momma while Daddy (the camera man) sits off to the side trying not to let her see him.

Everything goes in her mouth!  And when she gets excited she throws her feed up in the air..see below :) Oh and Doc dog decided to make her appearance in the video as well! 

The Yuck!

Last week was an interesting week to say the least.  Sunday after the 4th of July, Lilly started acting really whinny and was super sleepy.  Mike and I came to the conclusion that she was either going through a growth spurt or that she was getting sick..so we let her cuddle with us and had a lazy day. 

Monday rolled around and Lilly seemed just fine, she played and giggled as usual so I figured it had to have been a growth spurt, well I was wrong.  Tuesday Lilly woke up after her first nap and was burning up, so I took her temperature and it was 101.5 degrees…I called the doctor immediately and they told me to bring her in and by the the time I made it to the doctors office she was up to 102.5 degrees.  She didn’t have any other symptoms, not vomiting, coughing, diarrhea or anything so they sent us to the hospital to get a full blood and urine work up.  We go to the hospital and they start to get everything together to draw her blood and they say that they can’t do a heal stick they have to get the blood out of a vein and that I needed to hold her down…eek!  I don’t mind blood at all but I don’t want to hold my almost 3 month old baby down…needless to say I did and she screamed the whole time of course.  Then we made our way back to the doctors office to get a shot of antibiotics to get her started feeling better just in case it was a urinary tract infection, they had to give it to her in two doses because it was so strong.  My poor baby had to get stuck by 3 needles in one day and that wasn’t even for her normal immunizations!

That night was rough…she had a fever all night and she wouldn’t sleep! I ended up sleeping on the floor of her room cuddled up with Doc Dog (now I wish I had a picture of that) and waking her up every four hours to give her Tylenol and feed her.  Some time in the early early morning her fever broke and we finally got some good sleep.  We found out the next day that she had a urinary tract infection and the doctor prescribed her some antibiotics, which she slurps down like nobody’s business (probably because it tastes like strawberry and it’s something different than the same ole’ breast milk).

Just when I thought all the “yuck” was done with, Mike and I decided to go and visit some friends in Baton Rouge on Friday since we were headed out there for an appointment anyways.  Well those friends spent the previous night in the hospital with what they thought was food poisoning, so not even thinking they were misdiagnosed we went over there and brought them some popsicles.  Needless to say, Sunday I came down with the super “yuck” stomach flu and ended up in bed all day not even able to take care of my dear baby! Thank goodness mike was off of work and he was able to watch her, I ended up pumping every feeding for him and letting him feed her too.  Oh and it gets better….Mike come down with the yuck Monday night! It was a horrible terrible case of stomach YUCK for both of us! I have emptied a whole can of Lysol and a whole container or Clorox wipe cleaning up everything either one of us touched in those couple of days!  I was doing everything in my power to make sure Lilly didn’t come down with it and now a week later it looks like it worked!

I learned my lesson..never, ever, ever go over to a friends house who says they have food poisoning!

4th of July!!

Happy Independence day!!! Here’s my flag cake that I made for the occasion, it is accurate in stripes but not stars.  It may fall apart when cut but I’m pretty sure it will take yummy!

On a side note…this is what a well rested baby looks like….

Miss Lilly slept for 12 hours last night without waking up! She went to bed at 7:30 as usual and played around with her hands for about half and hour and then at about 7:00 this morning I woke up thinking wow I haven’t heard Lilly cry once, and I didn’t get up to go feed her once!  So I wake up and go into her room and she’s still happily asleep! She slept until 8:00am this morning!!!  I guess she has Mike’s sleeping genes! She has been moving towards this for about a week, she started waking up later and later in the middle of the night she went from 4:00 am until about 6:30 am two days ago.  I’m not sure if this will last but it was nice for it to have happened at least once :)

Laundry, dogs and Father’s Day

So it seems like Lilly hates doing laundry as much as I do!

 

But I think she likes the dogs as much as I do, I think she is fascinated by Max’s beard :)

So I found a neat idea for father’s day, it was to make a sign saying “Happy Father’s Day” and the date and take a picture with the baby, and put it in a photo album and do it every year.  We did this and I also got Lilly a precious onsie to wear for Daddy.

My GREAT Dogs!

Ok so I watched Marley and Me last night and felt totally guilty that our dogs don’t get nearly as much attention as they used to. So I decided to write a blog about them :)

I love my dogs so very much and I have no clue what I would do without them.  Doc especially, she has been with me through ex-boyfriends, living alone, long deployments, morning sickness and all of the other times.  Maximus is a great dog too, he is just in his own little puppy world most of the time.  They are both great with Lilly, they walk with me to her room in the middle of the night and lay on the floor while I nurse her.

  So I went through my pictures and videos of them last night.  Here are some of my favorites!

This week Lilly has figured out how to hold her hands together in front of her face, she has started to “talk” non-stop, do the baby push up and roll over on her side.  She has also started to smile and giggle!  I have a video I’ll post later as soon as I figure out how to get it off of the camera :)

Baby Product Review

Ok, so I didn't think that I would be one of "those" mom's that give people advice on stuff but I find myself talking to my friends and telling them how cool or how I can't live without certain baby products! So I'm going to post it here instead:

I actually borrowed the Avent breast pump from a friend because they were not selling it while I was pregnant. This has been a lifesaver, it has no tubes (bottles screw directly into it), you can plug it in, use a battery pack or use it manually, its small and fits in just about every diaper bag!

This is the microwave sterilizer that I use on a daily basis, the pump fits in it perfectly, and it only takes 4 minutes to sterilize any size of the avent bottle and nipples. I know you don't have to sterilize bottles every time, but it just makes life easy you don't have to boil water or run the dishwasher.

This is the new monitor I bought after our crazy fisher price one crapped out on us. Its Safety First brand, it had DECT technology, which from my understanding doesn't run on frequency's like traditional monitor (so it won't catch interference with cell phones or other electronics). It is fantastic!! It has rechargeable batteries, crystal clear reception, can work 1,000 feet from the baby unit, and is not too big either. I have heard people complain that it is too quiet, but it is actually the same volume as the baby, unlike other monitors it doesn't turn louder than the baby's actual volume level (does that make any sense), so you cannot set it down and go super far away from it, but that's ok because it works for such a long distance. I HEART THIS MONITOR!

This is Lilly's slumber bear, it makes womb noises; aka white noise. And it put me and Mike to sleep that's how great it works. It turns off after about 5 minutes and then if baby cries or moves a lot near it, it will turn on again for another 5 minutes. I always tell Lilly when she cries and it turns on that she woke up her teddy bear and he wants to go back to sleep :)

And last but certainly not least the Boppy! This thing is an arm saver. I use it every time I nurse Lilly which is 6 or 7 times a day, and she sits in it next to me on the couch all the time. Mike also uses it when he gets the seldom chance to feed her. I brought it to the hospital, used it as a pillow, back rest and a way to keep Lilly close to me without her sitting on my C-Section incision.
