Sweet sisters

Lilly asked me the other day to open up her lego bucket, after I did I heard the unmistakable sound of hundreds of legos being dumped onto the playroom floor.  Raelynn heard it too and went from playing with her “baby toys” …

To scooting her little booty across the living room and into the playroom.  Lilly yelled, “Can Raerynn play with my legos?”  That melted my heart a little knowing that she wants to make sure that her toys are safe for Raelynn to play with.  Moments later I found my precious girls playing happily together.

This isn’t always the case. I hear a lot of, “No Raerynn, ta ta, not for you,” but those moments are really cute too.

This also happened on “lego day”

Tigger and….

I found this precious sleep sack on sale a while ago and couldn’t pass it up.  What is a sleep sack you ask?  It’s a wearable blanket for babies, it’s pretty much a fleece blanket sac that you put over your babies pajamas and zips up.  The AAP recommends keeping blankets out of babies cribs until they are at least a year old.  Lilly never had one but I swear she had to be cold in the dead of winter without a blanket, no matter how many layers she had on.  So I wanted to try one with Raelynn, at first it was huge and I thought she would get wrapped up and tangled in it but she hasn’t.  And it’s so cute!

arject…arts and crafts + project

Lilly has gone from from saying “arts and craps” to “arjects,”  I love toddler talk it is hilarious!  I have been trying to transform the playroom/office/computer room.  It started out primarily as a computer room for Mike with a treadmill in it for me.  Then we added some toys for Lilly, and then when Raelynn came along I  moved Lilly Pie Creations in.  So the space has kind of turned into a family play room.  We each pretty much have our own wall.  Lilly uses the playroom a lot to color and play away from Raelynn with her “big girl toys” so I have been trying to come up with something to put on the wall above her table.  I found some really pretty crayon art on pinterest and decided to give it a try. I thought Lilly would enjoy doing this “arject” with me, so I waited until Raelynn went down for her morning nap and Lilly and I got to work.

Supplies: a big canvas, hot glue gun, crayons, blow dryer.

IMG_9662

Lilly helped me sort the crayons

IMG_9665

And we took out all the browns, blacks, greys and tans.  I used three 24 packs of crayons that I got for $1 each at big lots.

IMG_9663

I put them all in order

IMG_9666

Then started gluing them at the top of the canvas.

IMG_9673

I then played around with my camera, all the vibrant colors we begging me to take pictures.

IMG_9678

Lilly lost interest after about 5 minutes so she started coloring with her own crayons

IMG_9692

We took the canvas outside and went to town with the blow dryer.  Make sure to put it on something you don’t mind getting melted crayon on!

IMG_9695

This is the finished project, apparently my blow dryer is weird.  It made the wax go in weird directions instead of straight down, but I like the way it turned out.  I have another canvas, that I may let Lilly pick out the colors for.  I’m sure it will be all “PANK”

Here is a picture of Lilly Pie Creations, it has changed a little since the picture was taken but I figured since this is part of our play room I should add the picture.

Bath time fun

Lilly and Raelynn love taking baths together.  Raelynn got an awesome bath seat for Christmas that makes it all possible.

 IMG_9441

There is no denying they are related

IMG_9442

Raelynn loves her big sister, she has to watch everything Lilly does.

IMG_9443

Playing with the duckys.  I think we have 6 or 7 of them for bath time

IMG_9469

This this is super cool, it’s a submersible led light.  I got 2 of them at Wal-Mart for $5 in the craft area by the silk flowers.  They are meant to be used in fake flower arrangements, but they make for some awesome bath time fun.

IMG_9462

The lights in action. Can you see the big smile on Raelynn’s face?  Lilly was dropping them in the water and making a splash..she loved it!

IMG_9466

Well most of the time, she was ok until Lilly make a really big splash and it got Raelynn’s face all wet.

Raelynn, the HAM!

Lilly goes to school on Wednesdays, so that give me a chanece to spend some much needed alone time with Raelynn.  Raelynn loves the camera, if the flash goes off she smiles and pretty much begs me to take another picture (ok not begs, but her precious face makes me want to take more pictures).

Big Smiles

Lilly used to have the same straight grin when she was a baby, I think those chubby cheeks are too heavy sometimes.

Later in the day, she had her first graham cracker..it was a hit

She played with her push toy

She showed off her sitting skills, I would kill for that posture!

“Fire”

Lilly is her father’s child, she loves explosions!  New Year’s Eve we bought a few fireworks to shoot off before the girls went to bed.  Lilly was very excited about them, she remembered the 4th of July when we did fireworks last and talked about how we would be doing “fire” before bedtime.  Raelynn was not a fan, she is a very jumpy kid she doesn’t like loud noises and gets scared pretty easily.  We tried putting her in the bumbo seat next to Lilly so they could watch side by side, but she didn’t want anything to do with that.  So I held her in my lap and she was a little better.

1.  This sums up the girls impressions of fire works and 2. I am that mom who stepped away from my children to take a picture of one of them crying!

Lilly playing with “fire”  this made the mommy bear a little nervous, I can’t believe she held this all by herself.
