My early Christmas present!

This year I decided to ask for the moon, and asked Mike for a new camera.  Not just any point and shoot camera I asked him for a fancy DSLR camera.  I told him that he really didn’t have to get it for me if he thought it was too much money.  I guess I was a good girl this year because Mike let me open a box that our friendly UPS man dropped off.  Mike told me that it was my Christmas present but he wanted to give it to me a little early so I could learn how to use it and be able to use it on Christmas morning.  Well that pretty much means it wasn’t the oven mitts or diaper bag that I had on my list!  Ok so without further ado here are a few of the thousands (literally) of pictures that I have taken over the last week or so.  I’m still new at messing with the settings, so most of my pictures have been taken on the preset settings.  I’m working on learning what each setting does and how changing it affects the picture. **warning picture overload coming up**

IMG_2950 Of course Doc and Max had to be in a few pictures!

What do most of the things in this picture have in common?  Well Lilly, ducky, tigger, blanket, and pillow all sleep in the same crib at night!

I was just playing around with b/w pictures and Lilly was playing in the dogs toy bin!

My first babies!

Lilly and Santa

Last week Lilly and I took a trip to go see Santa Claus to test her “stranger danger” response!  As usual Lilly was very skeptical  with Santa, even though Mike and I prepped her all week.  She knew Santa says, “ho ho ho Merry Christmas,”  she knew all about his red hat and she even pointed him and told me who he was the first time we walked by.  Lilly didn’t really want anything to do with Santa once she was out of the safety of her stroller! He and the photographer tried very hard to get her to warm up, they even gave her candy and a coupon for said candy (which of course she called a book).  When I finally thought she may sit by Santa I tried to put her down next to him, she practically climbed up me like a spider monkey!  To avoid the potential water works I decided to take the picture with her and Santa.  It makes sense, Lilly and Demo Deux (nope baby #2 still doesn’t have a name) should both be in the picture!

Take not the candy and “book” that Lilly and I are both holding.  If I knew that I would have been in the picture too, it would have put that stuff down.  If you think this sounded like a long drawn out visit, it was! Thank goodness we the only people visiting Santa at that time.

Better late than never…growing vocabulary

Lilly’s word list has been growing in leaps and bounds over the last 5 months or so.  *Warning I’m going to brag here a little* She can name just about any animal and the noise they make, she can name all parts of her body and face, and name most articles of clothing, plus many, many more! I honestly think her vocabulary list is up to a couple hundred words now!

She has started to group words together into simple sentences! She has also started to recognize certain mannerisms that we have.  One of them is that I always take my shoes off before I walk into the house and leave my shoes on the rack in the garage.  So Lilly now says, “shoes off” and lifts her feet up before she walks into the house.  She also tattles on just about anyone when they wear shoes in the house!  She practically yelled at the guy that was delivering my new washer and dryer to take his shoes off.  How do you explain to a 20 month old that he’s an exception to the rule?  Lilly also has no problem telling Daddy that he is wearing shoes in the house!  She bugged him so much this day that he took his shoes off just for her, then she proceeded to try them on for size.  I think they are a little big honey!

Better late than never..Halloween

Lilly and I enjoyed a few Halloween events this year, first we went to a pumpkin patch in Metairie.  This may be something we do every year, just because of the great photo ops! Take a look at how much Lilly grew in one year..Last year's pumpkin patch.

Then we carved our pumpkins..

Check out our finished products! Mike did the first one and I carved the second one.

Then we went trick or treating! Lilly was a flower this year.  She has had this headband that her Amaw gave her when she was little bitty, and she had just started to put it on and realize that she was a flower when she was wearing it.  She also loves to walk up to any flower (real or fake) and say “petty flower” then smell it…so being a flower really fit her this year.

Andouille Run 2010

This past week I was looking up festivals in the area and found out that the Andouille Festival was this weekend, in LaPlace.  I remember wanting to go last year but we were in the middle of Lilly’s recovery from her surgery.  So this year I did some research and found out they have a 2 mile or 5 mile race on the last day!  Despite being pregnant I am still running (with the OK from my OB of course), in efforts to stay in shape and possible have an easier labor (wishful thinking, wishful thinking!).  This morning Lilly, Demo Deux and myself woke up bright and early and decided to concur the 32nd Andouille Run!

We got there early enough to pose with Miss Andouille 2010, both of them!

Lilly needed to stretch her legs after a long ride in the jogging stroller, and danced to the band as they were warming up.

After the run, we met up with Mimi at our house and went back to the festival once all of the booths opened up.  Lilly was interested in the big stuffed Scooby Doo that the humane society was raffling off so of course Mimi entered her in the raffle, my fingers are crossed that a family who needs a 3 foot tall scooby doo wins, because we sure don’t!  We also had some great Louisiana food, jambalaya with andouille sausage, boudin balls and bread pudding.   Lilly wasn’t very happy with the Cajun selection and only wanted “fry fries” (french fries).

After our long morning Lilly and I came home and both took a nice long nap.  Daddy got a little lonely around 4:00 and went to get Lilly up, but not before he snapped some very cute pictures of our baby sleeping!  She rarely sleeps through her bedroom door opening, let alone the flash on the camera multiple times, she must have been very sleepy!  After the photo session Daddy got Lilly up, then let her wake me up.  I woke up to Lilly running at me full speed yelling, “momma, momma” and making kissy noises!

Do you remember…..

In a previous blog post I mentioned something about a “few surprises”?  Well I am proud to finally announce that surprise.  While on vacation with my mom and Lilly I was experiencing some strange symptoms and found out we will be parking here for the next 6 months or so.

Since Mike was not with us on vacation and I found out the day before we were scheduled to fly home, I decided to keep it a secret for just one more day so Lilly could tell Daddy when he picked us up from the airport.  We looked all over Taylor, MI for  the perfect way to tell him and came up with this…

IMAG0016SDC12612

So far this pregnancy has been the same as when I was pregnant with Lilly, full of morning sickness, or as I like to call it All Day Sickness.  This time around I decided that throwing up all the time wasn’t going to work with a toddler running around and asked for the anti-nausea medication.  That has by far been one of the best decisions I have made in a while!  As of today I’m about 13 weeks along and feeling good, I’m starting to get my energy back and have even been running for the last 2 or 3 weeks! Baby number two should be here sometime around my birthday next year.

Do you think she likes Momma’s spaghetti?

The answer to that question is YES!  Lilly loves Momma’s spaghetti.  This dinner is reserved for bath night due to the shear messiness of the meal.  But this night’s spaghetti dinner was a little different, Lilly decided to finger paint her Buddha belly with noodles and sauce!
